Alice Birbara is an actor, writer and performance poet based in Sydney.

About

Alice is an actor, writer and performance poet living and working on Gadigal land (Sydney). She is a queer woman with Lebanese-Australian heritage.

She is a graduate of the prestigious Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, where she gained an MA in Professional Acting. She also holds a BA in English/History from the University of Sydney.

Recent acting work includes the Logie award-nominated In Our Blood (ABC) and a tour-de-force performance in the solo show Chef (KXT Bakehouse & Virginia Plain Theatre).

Additional select theatre credits include The Caucasian Chalk Circle (Tobacco Factory Theatres, UK), Constellations (Chippen St Theatre), The Lieutenant of Inishmore & Picnic at Hanging Rock (New Theatre), Brothers Karamazov (Virginia Plain Theatre & PACT Theatre), Bitch Boxer, Grounded (Sydney Fringe Festival).

Alice writes and performs slam poetry as well as writing for screen and theatre. She recently placed second in the annual Bread & Butter Poetry Slampionship and has previously performed at the slam as a featured poet.

Alice is passionate about creating work that amplifies the voices of women, the LGBTQIA+ community, culturally diverse groups and victim-survivors of sexual violence. She is a strong advocate for victim-survivors of sexual assault and has been featured in articles about her lived experience.
